The legacy continues….10 years after the launch of the original Chefs Warehouse & Canteen, just across the road. Rustic brickwork, industrial steel, black tiles and stand-out artwork set the tone for Liam’s food, which is all about the straightforward bang. Order a la carte from a menu of dishes that made “Canteen” a local hero. You’ll always find oysters, risotto and lemon posset – the Tomlin Holy Trilogy – everything else is a reflection of favourite tastes and textures from around the world. Or let us curate it for you with the classic Tapas for Two: a four-course tapas menu with eight dishes and the best of today’s offerings. Or just come for drinks and a few plates of snacks. Think chicken larb, pork gyoza, lamb dizi and bouillabaisse. Short ribs, pumpkin gnocchi and fried squid. Spoon it, fork it, chopstick it and eat it with your hands. It doesn’t get more international, but it also doesn’t get more intentional…our menu has been built on good old-fashioned chef experience, a helluva lot of research and the desire to make everything taste real.
Besides the global spread, Chefs Warehouse & Canteen has a library of cookbooks from Liam’s personal collection and a split level dining room sandwiched by two wine cellars full of South African gems.

Chefs Warehouse & Canteen is one of three exciting Chefs Warehouse concepts at 91 Bree Street. Upstairs is our sister restaurant Merchant Bar & Grill, with modern old school cuisine and a menu that celebrates the producers. And our crowning glory on top is Room 91, a large private events space we hope will become your go-to for special occasions.
